Over 473 million children – nearly 1 in 5 globally – are living in or fleeing conflict zones. 

An estimated 473 million children live in countries where there is war or other violent conflicts. Often forced to flee their homes in search of safety, many remain displaced for extended periods of time, or never return home. Some are orphaned or separated from parents and caregivers.

During WW1 the ratio of soldier to civilian deaths was 9:1
By WW2 that statistic increased to 1:1
In today’s wars, that ratio* has completely inverted to 1:9

*for every one combatant killed in war, nine civilians are killed—most of whom are children.
